My name is Pat Hoban. I am a 6th Grade Social Studies teacher at Adams Middle School in North Platte. I taught 4th Grade in the Omaha Public Schools for 4 years before moving to North Platte in 1973. I taught at Cody Elementary (6th Grade) for 13 years prior to moving to Adams when it became a middle school. The 6th Grade Social Studies curriculum in NPPS includes a basic map and globe unit, a study of the Eastern Hemisphere from prehistoric times to the 1400's, and geography of the Eastern Hemisphere. We also work in a library skills unit at the beginning of the school year and a research project in which students investigate the geography and culture of an Eastern Hemispheric nation. Writing this WebQuest was a real challenge for me. I hope that it will prove useful to those of you who study the Indus Valley Civilization.
