Workshops and Training:
Basic training provided in-school. Please contact Jan Coone to schedule training date and time.

  • Training 1: Equipment and resources delivered to team. Overview of grant project and guidelines. Basic training for teachers in using new laptop, and getting started with GarageBand. Basic training for students in expectations, using the laptop, and getting started with GarageBand. Ipod training as needed.
  • Training 2: Continue with skills from Training 1.  Topics as requested.
Workshops:
Two-day workshop in December or January will provide more advanced techniques in creating documentaries, and in creating high quality podcasts.
Share day, May 28th -- Teams will share projects with entire group.

Tasks
Check e-mail often for project updates.
Schedule in-school basic training with Jan Coone.
Complete pre and post surveys.
Meet with team regularly to plan and implement project.
Have students complete pre and post surveys.
Arrange to bring students to both the 2 day workshop and the share day.
Participate in discussion forum on this website to share ideas and information with other teams.
Collect subject area student achievement data for pre and post evaluation (do not need student names, but overall changes in achievement).
Review school policy on student use of technology, and identification of students in projects. Students may use 'pen names'. Be sure to check policy about use of student photos or video images. And, review with students.
Share project with other staff, schools and community leaders.

Guidelines
Teams must abide by school technology policy and guidelines.
Teams must complete projects by May 20th and upload to podcast server.
Projects must abide by school policy.

Equipment and materials
All equipment provided by the grant (laptops, iPods, and microphones) belongs to ESU #15, not to the teacher. Equipment must remain with the school as assigned.
Equipment should be listed on school's insurance policy.
AppleCare has been purchased for the laptops, which provides 3-years of support for equipment related problems.
AMP was purchased which provided updates and support for software.
Other resources such as books are assigned to the schools and should remain with the school.
