Project:

In order for small rural communities to exist in a global society there needs to be reasons for families to want to live in towns the size of Culbertson.

The community of Culbertson has made many improvements to encourage families to live here.

What does Culbertson need to do in the future to insure that families will want to live and raise families in this community?

Jan. 14-15

Training at the ESU with Brian Fitz and Ron Shimkel, from Lincoln Public Schools

The team began working with GarageBand, interviewing with the ipod, and downloading graphics.

The team will meet every Thursday after school until the project is completed.

Towncast:
episode 1- history of Culbertson's population growth

January 31
Completed first enhanced podcast.
mistake #1-(hope there aren't too many)-saved the production in mp3 format so when we posted the segment there were no photos to accompany the hard work.  At our next meeting we're hoping to resolve this problem.

Our next segment will involve interviewing 3 businesses in the Culbertson area to see how they've helped address the issue of jobs.

The students on the team were asked to compile a bank of questions to be used at the interviews.

The team met on February 15 to decide on businesses to contact, questions to ask, and just general discussion about the project.

All three teachers will be attending the NETA conference in April and presenting this project at a poster session.

Next meeting will be in two weeks with students interviewing business owners for podcast number 2.

March 20

Four members of the team met to outline the rest of the project.  In two weeks the second podcast should be complete.

The poster for the NETA conference was discussed and suggestions made.

Next meeting: April 3.
