Scholarship Information
McPherson County High School Alumnus Association Scholarship Fund 2008 McPherson County Alumnus Association wishes to announce a scholarship will be awarded for 2008. Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation which administers the funds for the scholarship will send information and applications to McPherson County High School in the spring of 2008. Download Application Graduating students and former students of McPherson County High School may apply. The scholarship may be used at any accredited higher education institution, including technical & trade schools. The Alumnus Association encourages anyone who will or has graduated from MCHS and is planning to attend college this coming year to apply. The scholarship will be awarded by a scholarship committee selected by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. The scholarship may be renewed upon re-application and selection from among all applicants. Keep this scholarship in mind as you are all eligible to apply. McPherson County High School will have information every year on this Scholarship. 2003 scholarship winner was Eric Mumm, a 2002 graduate of MCHS. Eric attended Chadron State College and majored in Business. 2004 scholarship winner was Stacy Neal, a 2004 graduate of MCHS. Stacy is pursuing a nursing career. 2005 scholarship winner was Stacy Neal also. 2006 scholarship winner was Ryan Mumm, a 2006 graduate of MCHS. Ryan attends Chadron State College majoring in Communications 2007 scholarship winner is Stacy Neal once again! Stacy is working on a nursing degree. 2008 scholarship winner is Ben Cochran a 2008 graduate. Ben will attend Chadron State College majoring in Industrial Technology. Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation is the administrator of this fund. Money deposited with them is invested. When our fund reached $5000 it was considered active. Scholarships are based on 5% interest from the money in our fund. We needed $6000 in the fund to give the first scholarship.We have somewhere around $12,000 in the fund this year which is why the scholarship can be $600. Let's keep donating to the fund and soon we may have enough to give two scholarships. It has been decided to not split the fund into two scholarships until we can give two $500 scholarships. So keep donating! Send donations to: McPherson County Alumnus Association PO Box 51 Tryon, NE 69167-0051 Checks for scholarship should be made payable to: Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation Indicate MCHS Alumni Scholarship Fund on the memo line. Donations in Memory Donations at $10 or more may be made in memory of a loved one. Please include a note if that is your wish. Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation maintains a Book of Memory in which your memorial will be written if you indicate that in your note. Be sure to include birth and death dates for loved ones. To save postage you may send your Scholarship donation to the Alumni Committee when you send your membership dues. Please do not make your donation and dues in the same check. Make separate checks and include a note expressing your wishes for any memorials you want your donation to reflect. Donations to the Scholarship Fund are tax deductible. Be sure you include your name and address so a proper receipt can be sent to you from the Community Foundation. Do not send dues to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.
