Longhorns vs. Trojans Volleyball Finale The Lady Longhorns played Mullen in the final game of Sub-districts at Mullen. It happened on October 30th. They lost with scores of 19-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-10, 12-15. Even though, they had a great game. Good job ladies.Individual stats for the Longhorns are as follows: Meka with 38 good hits, 24 kills, 2 stuff blocks and 12 digs, Jalyn with 9 points, 55 good sets and 27 assists, Amy with 7 points, 14 kills and 6 stuff blocks and Tasha with 12 points, 52 good sets, 18 assists and 13 digs. AGBB Volleyball Districts The Mullen Broncos and the Potter-Dix Coyotes traveled to Ogallala on November 1st. It went into five sets 25-13, 26-24, 20-25, 24-26, 15-8. It was a tough game for the Bronco's. Potter-Dix will advance to the state playoffs. DPASix Man Semi-Finals Six man semi-finals was played on November 1 at Elba. It was Elba vs. South Platte. The score, of Elba vs. South Platte are 67 to 26 in favor of Elba.The other part of six man semi-finals was played on November 1. It was Arcadia vs. Arthur at Arcadia. The score of the Arthur vs. Arcadia game was 22 to 14 in favor of Arcadia. Six man finals are at UNK played on November 8. It was Elba vs. Arcadia. Arcadia won 7 out of 9 games this season. Elba won 9 out 9 games this season. The quarter scores were: 1st quarter scores were 8 to 13 in favor of Elba. 2nd quarter scores were 6 to 27 in favor of Elba. 3rd quarter scores were 6 to 12 in favor of Elba. 4th quarter scores were 12 to 7 in favor of Arcadia. The final score is 32 to 59 in favor of Elba. AJM State Volleyball State volleyball tournament was held in Lincoln on November 9-10. There were a few upsets this year. In Class C1 the number 8 seed beat the number 1 seed in 5 sets. In Class D1 the number 6 seed beat the number 3 seed in 5 sets. In all Classes the number 5 seed beat the number 4 seed. Although these teams made it to semi-finals, they were beat out for the chance to go on to the final round.In Class D2, number 6 Potter-Dix played number 3 Hampton. Hampton won 25-19, 26-24, 25-17. Number 2 Paxton played number 7 Coleridge. Paxton won 25-12, 25-13, 25-17. Number 4 Chambers played number 5 Falls City SH. Falls City came from behind and won 24-26, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-8. Number 8 Dodge played number 1 Ewing. Ewing won 25-8, 25-20, 25-17. In Semi-finals, Hampton played Paxton and Paxton won 20-25,25-21,25-19,27-25. Falls City played Ewing and Ewing won 25-23, 25-22, 25-23. Final action was Paxton playing Ewing with Paxton winning 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 17-15. Congratulations to the Paxton Tigers. Basketball Practice Basketball practice started on Monday the 12th. The girls had late practice to start off the year. Girls going out for basketball are, Tasha, Molly, Nicole, Ashley, Kate, Amy, Jordan, Samantha, Mara, Meka. Dan is the coach and Gina is the assistant coach. Good luck girls in your season. JLS First Day of Boy's Basketball The boys had their first basketball practice on the 12th. Jay Bessmer will be the head coach and Luke Connell will be the assistant coach. Duell, Petar, and Tui are the senior boys out. The juniors are Matt, Jake, Chris, and Tyrel. Eric is the only sophomore playing. Dillon and Gabe are the two freshman out. Their first game will be on November 30th here against Arthur. AKW |
